Westernaires is a precision mounted drill riding group, this blog was used to record my time at Westernaires. I leased a 21 year old quarter horse draft mix named Bo. Prior I rented and rode Stretch, Chey, and GoldDust. My teams were T1, J1 (Top Junior),White Star (Captain), Colorado Stampede (Captain), Nighthorse Rangers, Royal Rangers, Red Liberty, Red Ropes, White Vaulting, White Batons, Jr. Instructor, and Jr. Wrangler. I now ride on the Evergreen Drill Team since I graduated in 2017

The new year continues!
What a day hahaha. I decided to make use of some free time and JI. At 8am I rode my baby Stretch! The class was a little rough, but my favorite part was after when they asked the other JI and I to go to the Moore with a girl who was scared to lope. We boxed her in and got her to lope! She loved it. Seeing her overcome her fear made me so happy!!! Then I had some time to eat and relax before JI at 11. I got to ride Drover! He was really fun! His lope is super nice and he's very responsive. Then I watched Nighthorse. They rode with flags today which means I need to start bringing my flag boot again. Then I went to white ropes for some practice since red is still cancelled. I was able to get my 60ft out! I was so happy!!! Then I saw GoldDust in Crimson :( I'm glad to see that she's better. I'm not too worried because Stock Show moves a lot of assignments around. Then I signed out my horse and I had Warrior again! He did really good. He was a bit unsure about the propeller transition but after a few tries he got the hang of it! We only got two drills in because we had to restart so many times. I hope things get better after move ups. I rode 1-6 for Flag and 3-6 for Carousel. I sure am loving riding team so much! Being a senior has its perks I guess hahaha. My instructor wants me to ride Indigo next week because I'm bigger than the girl who is on him now so she thinks I might be able to control him a little better. I gotta figure out Warrior's flying lead changes though. He also sweats A LOT. I have to spend 45min to an Hour toweling him off every week. For Vaulting my partner was at stock show sales so I rode with someone else on Count. We got to be in the volunteer so that was a nice treat! The girl was too small for me to do tricks though. But I was pretty tired so that was okay. She also wanted to unsaddle so I helped her out but let her do most of it. Overall a pretty good day.
