Westernaires is a precision mounted drill riding group, this blog was used to record my time at Westernaires. I leased a 21 year old quarter horse draft mix named Bo. Prior I rented and rode Stretch, Chey, and GoldDust. My teams were T1, J1 (Top Junior),White Star (Captain), Colorado Stampede (Captain), Nighthorse Rangers, Royal Rangers, Red Liberty, Red Ropes, White Vaulting, White Batons, Jr. Instructor, and Jr. Wrangler. I now ride on the Evergreen Drill Team since I graduated in 2017

An easy week for once!
I really didn't have a lot going on yesterday so that was a nice change of pace. I came out pretty early for a trainer meeting at 8:45. I didn't have any trainee changes so that was a relief. One of them wasn't there so I took another drill for my friend. They only had 10 diagrams so grading wasn't too hard. Vaulting was at 10 so it conflicted with training. Then I went and played with my friends horses for a bit before my walkthrough at 12. I went to sign out my horse and I still had Warrior! I think it's safe to say he is my new assignment! I'm going to really miss GoldDust and we had a wonderful 8 months together. For the ride he was in a mood but he did pretty good. We were 1-6 and L6 for Crimson and Lace and then 2-3 and 3-1 for Flag. We finally got four drills in again!!! During the first drill we were coming together for fours and Troy lashed out at Warrior but got my shin with his hoof instead. Boy did that hurt and I have a beautiful bruise to show for it. Besides that our Crimson and Lace drills were really good but our flag drill needs a lot of work still. I really love riding the precisionette drills and they are a ton of fun but for the sake of the team I'm ready to go back to one drill. Warrior wasn't as sweaty as normal so that was a real treat! My sister had liberty at 4 so I stuck around until then and went home.

Finally a good ride!!!
I arrived at about 8am to drop my sister off and pick up my trainer book for Kaleidoscope. I didn't have anything until 12 which was royal's walkthrough. We were riding Crimson & Lace for the first time today. I went and watched Crimson and GoldDust was in there again. I checked out my horse and I was elated to find out I had Warrior again! For the ride I was CP and warrior did outstanding and then I got to be 4-7!!!! HOLY COW IS THAT A FUN POSITION TO RIDE!!!!!!!!!! There is a part where you have to do a roll back and warrior did okay. We actually started to get some flying changes today so that was a bonus! I really hope I get to keep him! I like him a lot! Then we rode 1-6 which was pretty good. Royal had a good ride and we rocked some pretty good drills. After came the 45 minutes of towel drying before I went to liberty! I had brutus and we were in the volunteer! He did all the warm up jumps like a champ so I took off the bridle but leading the drill was interesting as he didn't really want to do that. But we managed to the best of our ability. Then I had my last stock show sales ever! I sold 58 at a podium last night and 39 in the arena at this show. It was a long day and I'm glad stock show is coming to an end. I'm curious to see how horse assignments fluctuate again with that and maybe move ups.

The new year continues!
What a day hahaha. I decided to make use of some free time and JI. At 8am I rode my baby Stretch! The class was a little rough, but my favorite part was after when they asked the other JI and I to go to the Moore with a girl who was scared to lope. We boxed her in and got her to lope! She loved it. Seeing her overcome her fear made me so happy!!! Then I had some time to eat and relax before JI at 11. I got to ride Drover! He was really fun! His lope is super nice and he's very responsive. Then I watched Nighthorse. They rode with flags today which means I need to start bringing my flag boot again. Then I went to white ropes for some practice since red is still cancelled. I was able to get my 60ft out! I was so happy!!! Then I saw GoldDust in Crimson :( I'm glad to see that she's better. I'm not too worried because Stock Show moves a lot of assignments around. Then I signed out my horse and I had Warrior again! He did really good. He was a bit unsure about the propeller transition but after a few tries he got the hang of it! We only got two drills in because we had to restart so many times. I hope things get better after move ups. I rode 1-6 for Flag and 3-6 for Carousel. I sure am loving riding team so much! Being a senior has its perks I guess hahaha. My instructor wants me to ride Indigo next week because I'm bigger than the girl who is on him now so she thinks I might be able to control him a little better. I gotta figure out Warrior's flying lead changes though. He also sweats A LOT. I have to spend 45min to an Hour toweling him off every week. For Vaulting my partner was at stock show sales so I rode with someone else on Count. We got to be in the volunteer so that was a nice treat! The girl was too small for me to do tricks though. But I was pretty tired so that was okay. She also wanted to unsaddle so I helped her out but let her do most of it. Overall a pretty good day.

First Saturday of 2017!!!
I turned in my trainer book in the morning and I rode Sonny for JI at 10. So my morning was pretty relaxing. Then Royal had a walkthrough in the fort at 12. It went ok. I went to sign out my horse for Royal and the wranglers told me GoldDust is lame :( but guess who I had!? WARRIOR! I was so excited! He was so much fun! He is really kinda slow but is so responsive and such a gentle giant. My stirrups were super long and didn't go up high enough. I rode 1-3 and GPA 3 for Carousel and 1-5 for Flag. It was a lot of fun! Our drills were okay but not great. They should have been better seeing as we had a walkthrough. Then I had to towel off warrior but he was super wet. So they left him in the warm arena to dry off while I went to Liberty at 4 and I had Indigo. He was okay. He only bucked once and did a few full jumps! I rode 1st and 2nd pair the whole ride so that was amazing!!! I'm in denial that its my graduation year.

Last ride of 2016
My morning started out with A very cold vaulting ride on patches and the I graded my trainees diagrams. And then I watched Nighthorse. I had Royal at two.The last ride of the year did not go quite as planned. I rode chief instead of gold dust. Which I was very sad about, but Chief did very well. We only got two carousel drills in but I was team for both. I rode 2–4 and 2-7. So I was really happy about that. I unsaddled chief and watched my sister's liberty ride at five.
