Westernaires is a precision mounted drill riding group, this blog was used to record my time at Westernaires. I leased a 21 year old quarter horse draft mix named Bo. Prior I rented and rode Stretch, Chey, and GoldDust. My teams were T1, J1 (Top Junior),White Star (Captain), Colorado Stampede (Captain), Nighthorse Rangers, Royal Rangers, Red Liberty, Red Ropes, White Vaulting, White Batons, Jr. Instructor, and Jr. Wrangler. I now ride on the Evergreen Drill Team since I graduated in 2017

Rain, rain, no pictures.
So it rained a ton and it was super muddy on Saturday. It was so deep that multiple girls lost their boots and it was really hard to walk. For my stampede ride I got Sampson #130 I was super excited to ride him. He was really good for grooming except for bridilng he was awful. He has a really comfy saddle in his gaits are pretty nice too. We had to ride with belts to keep our pairs and fours together. We rode two drills at a trot. For the first one I got to be 1-6 so I got to call the second half of our drill! I was so happy to finally call while riding. Sampson was being a brat though he didn't want to lead and was very lazy and slow my legs are sore from kicking him. There was a couple moments of confusion and people not knowing where they were going but overall it was an awful drill. For the second drill I got to be 3-6. I think having assigned lineups really helped us. Our walk-through and team pictures were canceled due to the amount of rain so that was really sad. Hopefully we can be outside next time we really need to start loping our drill if we have any chance of riding it that way at show. My pictures will be next specialty weekend as well as JI tryouts.

The rain was awful. Luckily Nighthorse got our walk through in. And Sampson has been turning into such a lazy butt. Lol. He was slow in Nighthorse too.
ReplyDeleteIt dried up later in the day. He definitely is getting more lazy. He's got such a sweet personality though
DeleteYeah, he's pretty cute.
DeleteDid not have a ride, but at the breed show I saw a girl with super muddy pants.
ReplyDeleteIt's not mud season at Westernaires without fab mud splatter jeans. :)
DeleteI can't wait for pictures. I ADORE Nighthorse's costumes. Gotta love those capes!
ReplyDeleteAboslutly!!!! That and yor music. It looks like the best team ever
DeleteYes! Our music is amazing! I downloaded the song off iTunes. lol Sadly no howl though. The howl at the beginning is actually our instructor's dog that is part wolf.
DeleteIkr. Sometimes when I'm riding point I quietly jam out to the music. lol
ReplyDeleteI would totally do that!!!! Stampede has awesome music too. I watch the video every night
DeleteYeah, I watch videos of NR and other teams a lot. I don't remember what the Stampede music is. I'll look it up.
