Calling and Some Bad News

So today was rough for me. My personal ride went really well. Guess what! I got Rayo #85. He was an absolute angel. Rayo was right at the gate so i didn't have to trek through the muck. He tried to pull away but I kept a good grip. It was too muddy for him to run. He was so patient during grooming and let me get the hard crusty mud off. I was so grateful for that. We rode in the White today. We did some warm ups and got to do quite a bit of loping. Rayo was perfect! He did amazing flying lead changes! The drill however did not go so well. We had 5 fours today and I rode 1-5. I got to call the 2nd half of the drill :) So that was nice. We trotted all of our drills today. We had to restart like 5 times. It wasn't very good at all. Then we had walkthroughs. We did one with the same line up. Then I got switched to 1-1. I called every drill today either first or last half. They said we would probably be somewhere close to this for show. I'm super happy with my position. Unfortunately our instructors told us we would be trotting White Division show. We are going to be the only AAA team trotting :( I'm literally reliving  last year all over again. At least my team has great chemistry and we all get along. Then I studied with my friend for an hour and left.

Guess the Horse #27

Last weeks winner was NeonRain! Congrats! The answer was Doc #99.

Your riddle for this week is, I am a small brown bay gelding, and my mane flips sides. I'm 22 years old and a mustang. I typically go to the smaller riders and am a total sweetheart. I have two back socks and my number is between 20 -25. Who am I?

No Conflicts! For once :)

So yesterday was my first time not having conflicts since move ups! I started the day with stampede pictures! I got to be on the top row for the first time ever! I was very excited. I love stampede's costumes and getting to walk in them was awesome! Can't wait for shows, we only have 4 practices left. Then I had Jr. Wrangler pictures that I finally got to be in :) I had ropes and we got to practice inside the white because Nighthorse had a walk through. I had to run two laps hahaha but I worked really hard. We ran two drills and I got to call one of them. I had to run to see who I had for Liberty and it was Tahoe.... oh joy. He actually wasn't to bad but he doesn't have the nicest gaits. He also dodged the jumps a lot but the instructors said he looked sore. So we took it easy which I was fine with since I had lost a lot of muscle mass and confidence since I hadn't been able to go in two months. I would have ridden Trinidad, Shoshone, and Bernie had I been able to go. I watched Nighthorse and saw NeonRain and bingo on the outside of Propeller. They looked awesome. Then I had batons. We got moved inside for a bit due to rain but it passed quickly and then we went outside and began creating our drill seeing as show is coming up really fast. I got dismissed early for JI tryouts. I went up to the red since they moved the horses. I got DODGER! I was so excited. So we rode the horses down and dismounted... I had to give him to another kid cause they thought I was in the second group. But I wasn't so they told me to pick another horse and I chose Curtiss. Not a bad trade but I really want to ride Dodger in a saddle. My stirrups were a little too long and the pair I was with didn't know how to pivot so that made my job hard. But I rocked the cones! I'm talking flying lead changes, no swinging, straight in a line. My stop was okay but I was so happy. Then I got a great rollback and flew down the rail. I felt really good about it. I don't know when we will find out if we made it but I'll let you know. After I had Vaulting. I wore my show shoes and they were slippery. Got to get used to them. My partner and I had Lucy. She is BOUNCY in the back for tricks, omg. It was terrible. I rode base for the first two drills. We are the third butt vaulting pair, we will probably ride there for show. We like it there because we are on the inside of propeller and don't have to trot standing hahahaha. The last drill I rode trick. I was super tired so my balance was off and I slipped in one leg hang and got a leg up in the corner. Overall it wasn't a bad practice. The tricks weren't great but the drill looked really nice. Then we unsaddled and got to go home :)

Guess the Horse #26

Back by popular demand! The answer to #25 was Molly #102 (I don't have a picture....oops). Remember this is a competition to see who can guess correctly first! Good luck and have fun!!!

I am a 23 year old quarter horse gelding. I am dark brown with a blaze and 4 even white feet. I am very old and like to cut into the center of the arena. I am used for Tenderfeet and lower white division. My number is between 95 - 100. Who am I?

Rain, rain, no pictures.

So it rained a ton and it was super muddy on Saturday. It was so deep that multiple girls lost their boots and it was really hard to walk. For my stampede ride I got Sampson #130 I was super excited to ride him. He was really good for grooming except for bridilng he was awful. He has a really comfy saddle in his gaits are pretty nice too. We had to ride with belts to keep our pairs and fours together. We rode two drills at a trot. For the first one I got to be 1-6 so I got to call the second half of our drill! I was so happy to finally call while riding. Sampson was being a brat though he didn't want to lead and was very lazy and slow my legs are sore from kicking him. There was a couple moments of confusion and people not knowing where they were going but overall it was an awful drill. For the second drill I got to be 3-6. I think having assigned lineups really helped us. Our walk-through and team pictures were canceled due to the amount of rain so that was really sad. Hopefully we can be outside next time we really need to start loping our drill if we have any chance of riding it that way at show. My pictures will be next specialty weekend as well as JI tryouts.

Guess The Horse... Yay or Neigh :)

So I've been slacking on the guess the horses. Do you guys still want me to continue those or not? I hadn't been getting answers so it discouraged me. Just let me know if you enjoyed them!!!

Specialty Picture Day!!!!!!!

Wow yesterday was a crazy hectic and chaotic day. So I arrived around 7:45 and had to park in the lower lot :( Then I hiked up to the costume truck for Vaulting check in. Those who didn't have a nude leotard underneath to change went into the tack truck. I had mine on so I just took off my uniform and had my costume underneath. Mine is purple and my partner is bright green. We lined up shortest to tallest. We have A LOT of bright blue and bright green this year and they are mostly the shorter people. It was really funny. So we took our picture with people doing split, posing on the rail, saluting, hands on our hips. It was a very colorful gymnastic like photo :) I had about an hour before Rope pictures so I watched Varsity ride and then met my team outside the white. It sucked because they scheduled our practice right during pictures so we weren't practicing today. Our pictures went really well and I was on the bottom row for the first time ever!!!! We just stood normally and had our ropes in our hands. I had to change for batons fairly quickly after that. They made the bottom and top of my leotard way to big. But since we wear shorts over I'm just having them adjust the top. I love the baton costumes. FIRE SKIRTS!!!! Lol. We also have a red headband and wrist bands. I volunteered to do a pose on the ground. Our picture went pretty quick. I was really bummed that I had to miss Liberty for a 3rd week in a row for pictures :( I haven't gone since move ups. Oh well... Then I watched nighthorse at 12. They are starting to look really good!!!!! At 1 was batons practice out by the white and we got to play with FIRE BATONS!!!! It was really fun but scary at the same time. I watched Royal's ride and then headed up to the Western for Vaulting. It started pouring rain but it died within like 5 minutes. My partner and I checked in at 3:45 and got Money #106 for the ride. I was really nervous cause of how he acts in Liberty but he did amazing!!!! Just doesn't like to stand still at all lol. I rode base for warm ups and rode trick for the two drills though. We really worked on polishing the timing and spacing also trick position. For our first time being in a big arena doing tricks at a trot I was very proud of myself. I'm really sore today though. Money didn't have a smooth trot but it wasn't bouncy. His spine made it really hard to balance in one leg lay over and when we reverse to sit backwards. :) We get to wear shorts, tights, and t-shirts to practice now to get used to the feel of our costume before show. We had to unsaddle. I had Money and my partner had Curtis. Of course money had to eat and took forever. I didn't get to leave until 6:15. I can't wait until next week when I get to have Stampede pictures :)
