Crazy that we are approaching three years since my graduation from Westerniares! I still go to adult ride from time to time. I have ridden Alumni at two annual shows now, and just finished my third season on the Evergreen Drill Team. My goals for the next two years are to graduate from college, finally buy my own horse, and eventually I want to do an Extreme Mustang Makeover, but that’s further down the road! I miss having updates for this blog, but I’m happy to continue answering comments :)
Westernaires is a precision mounted drill riding group, this blog was used to record my time at Westernaires. I leased a 21 year old quarter horse draft mix named Bo. Prior I rented and rode Stretch, Chey, and GoldDust. My teams were T1, J1 (Top Junior),White Star (Captain), Colorado Stampede (Captain), Nighthorse Rangers, Royal Rangers, Red Liberty, Red Ropes, White Vaulting, White Batons, Jr. Instructor, and Jr. Wrangler. I now ride on the Evergreen Drill Team since I graduated in 2017

I just got into the 2022 JI class as a Stampede rider. The class starts on the 26th. Do you have any tips, also can you explain how it works? :)h
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! The class may have changed but when I was in we alternated weeks in the classroom and riding. In the rides we would practice teaching tenderfeet, catching runaways, helping riders who were stuck, etc. We also did trials rides in the class and would get feedback too. I can't exactly remember what we covered in class, but I could probably find my notes. My tips are arena awareness and paying attention. Anticipate the issue horses. Ask lots of questions and have fun! Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions :)
DeleteIf you click on my Junior Instructor label I post about my classes in more detail there starting around June 1st, 2015!
Deletegreat ! thanks for the tips, itll come in handy in a week or so:)
