White Star Equitation Testing

Today was not my day at all. I literally arrived so late that I just threw my monitor the check and got handed a horse. It was Tahoe #36. I had never had him but everybody was telling me he was great. So we mounted up and warmed up a little. Tahoe has a bouncy trot. Not as bad as rebel but uncomfortable. So then everyone except the first four left the arena. Finally it was my turn. I was given a blue ranger flag. Great heavy. Then once I was in the arena my nerves felt much better. I felt like my group did really well. We had one reverse that was really bad but otherwise we were really tight. It was great getting to ride with WesternairesLover. Tahoe did great. He just likes to pop tart you out of the saddle a little bit. We built pairs at a trot circled and reversed then picked up the lope and built fours. A couple circles and reverses then a Halt Ho. That was it! Then we got to all go in and do one lap around at a lope then up we went tp unsaddle. Tahoe was being really pushy. He was absolutely fine for grooming and he rolled almost right away. Then of course he ate so I was there for a while. Then I went home :) that was my day :)

Ropes 9/20

What a day! Wow! So basically it was my usual I have no life other than Westernaires day hahaha. I showed up at 6:40 am a little later than usual. Got the first class mounted up. Then I bridled skeeter and got to ride him down to the arenas and pony Winddancer with me :) so I got some horse time. Then it was me just helping the classes with my best friend. We then showed a T4 girl how to trick rope a little. Totally made her day. Then between the classes I loosened cinches, watered horses, and picked at least 10 feet leaving my hands with blisters. I was working all day. I also bought my saddle pad and off billet for vaulting. I'm all set!!! Then we watched royal and headed to ropes. My instructor sent me on an errand to the kitchen then I went back to work. We were in the white. I worked on drag hop and jump the honda. I am determined hahaha! Then we played a really fun game. We lined up and counted off by twos. Then went into two groups. You had to run down while spinning your twenty, touch the rail, and come back and do 5 toe dances. It was a relay race and it was super fun. My group didn't win but it was great. Then I helped kids unsaddle and went home. I am SO TIRED!!

Ticket Rally 2014

So tonight was interesting. I got there a little late so I missed getting to yell at the tenderfeet and the pre rally fun so that was sad :( but I found my team so that was nice. I bought a cinch and vaulting pad from some teammates. Now I just need an off billet and I'm ready for vaulting. I get the saddle pad on Saturday. So anyway the rally went good. The giveaway horse is a GORGEOUS paint mare named Ghost. I've seen her out and about she is so pretty. I had a really hard time hearing but WE ARE CLEARED OF VSV!!!!!!! Hooray! I'm so happy life can get back to normal and all the horses will be ok. It was about an hour then on my way out I bumped into WesternaireForever again! So we talked a little then I found my monitor and picked up my tickets. That's all for tonight!

White Star Sunday Ride 9/14

So I finally got to ride with my team tonight!!! Finally since white Olympics. Guess who I got. Rebel #52. Yay here comes torture!!! So we talked in the middle about show. We got to ride in the western. Our downfalls were time and speed consistency but otherwise we were flawless. Then about VSV and making stall cards for annual show. I am going to make a design and submit it. I'll post when I'm done. Lastly we talked about white division equitation testing and how it would work. This has effect in promotions!!!! So then we got flags. I had a red one. Rebel took it no fuss at all. We did some really fun stuff. Trotting was pure torture because Rebel is sooooooo bouncy. I can't tell if he or Yukon is worse. They are both super bad. So that sucked. I could already feel saddle sores forming on my knees from my jeans rubbing. Then we picked up the lope! Thank heavens. It wasn't much better. Lol but anything is better than his trot. We built 4's then had to transition to troopers and keep the lope. Then we build 4's again and I got to run super fast to catch up. Rebel doesn't like to slow down haha. We dropped off our flags and went back on the rail. We Whwre looping as troopers and Danielle said pick up the speed! But Apache was our first horse so we didn't increase at all :( Then we played catch up!!!! The main group was at a slow lope and the first 4 had to catch up to the back. My group charged it!!! We were at a full gallop but we got in trouble because we left a rider behind who was on a difficult horse. We let her catch up and tried again. It was super sad cause I love going fast. Then we dropped our stirrups and just let the horses walk it off and cool down. Then up to unsaddle. I got to give rebel some apples. He eats like a bird!!! Takes tiny little nibbles out of them. One was my skin! It only hurt for a second. Chey attacked the buckets and knocked apples everywhere. It was super funny. Then a really nice gel on trailblazers let me give Cedar her apple slice. My knee is rubbed raw. Almost bleeding. It was a good first ride back. Write on Thursday for ticket rally!!!!!!

Ropes 9/13

So tonight was supposed to be Standard Drill Show but it was cancelled. So I came and helped out S1 with grooming basically just finding horses. Then I went and had ropes at 8. We were told no specialty move ups would occur until after annual show. It was a good practice. I got a new trick with butterfly and worked on jump the honda drag hop and a few others. I helped a ton of my teammates. Apparently I'm a good teacher. My friends and I worked on drag hop. But we did the advanced one. I'm dragging he rope as two people spoke hop around the outside. Then we did 5 toe dances to leave. I did 5 in my right and 5 on my left. Just to change things up. Then I signed up for Blue Liberty, Vaulting, and Batons. We will see how many I keep. It was a short but fun day

JUNIOR GRADUATION 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight was nothing short of amazing!!!!!!!! I arrived super early so I waited around for a while. Then my team finally showed up and got my Junior team lined up in reverse alphabetical order. Finally it was time to go in. The set us up different this year. J7 was in the front and J1 in the back. Well we got to move to the front but off to the side so that was nice. They started off the ceremony with flowers and the class gift. Then they gave us some information on VSV. So far looking pretty good :) Then came perfect attendance. Not me this year haha! Oh well. Then they awarded the Junior Grand Entry riders with Red White and Blue ribbons. Then came the long ceremony. J1 went first. We got our certificates saying we were promoted to Seniors!!!!!! We made it! Then we waited for all the other teams. Finally it came time to announce the Top Ten. You could feel the anticipation in the air. They started at 10. The most points you could earn was 178.
J1 placed 8,6,and 2nd! My sister got 3rd. Then came time to announce the Top Junior of 2014. Mr. Keller said," This rider had 171.? points. 7 away from perfect, from Junior 1. My whole team then turns and stares at me and the interclub winner as my name is called! My heart dropped to my feet then back to my throat! Somehow I was already at the stairs. My head felt light and my hands covering my mouth. It didn't even feel like it was me walking up there. I shook Mr. Keller's hand and was handed a Big trophy with my name on it! I made it down the stairs without falling and returned to my seat. I was trying so hard not to cry!!! Then we were dismissed and my whole team swarmed me and hugged me! The trophy was digging into my chest but I didn't care. I have the best team in the entire world!!! I pulled back and we did our white star chant but for Junior 1 instead! I love these girls so much! I'm so glad I get to ride with them in White Star for a little longer. My White Star instructor came and congratulated me and so many other people! I must have said thanks like a thousand times!!! I was physically shaking so hard. IS THIS REAL!!!! AHHHHHH. I said my good-byes and home I went. Now sitting here it doesn't even feel real! I can not believe I placed #1 with a near perfect score out of 100+ riders!!!!! Just goes to show how far I have come since Tenderfoot year. I cannot believe that I am a Senior rider now. I'm a 3rd year!!!!!! Congrats to all the riders who graduated tonight!!!! Every single one of you deserved it!!!!! RIDE WITH PRIDE JUNIORS OF 2013 - 2014!!!!!!!!!!

Guess the Horse #15

Sorry it took so long to get this post out! I will try to get back on track. Last post's answer was Rascal #81

Rascal #81
This week's riddle is I am a roan gelding. A little on the chubby side. I am a mustang and very sweet. My number is between 70 and 75.

White Division Gymkhana 2014!!!

Today was SO MUCH FUN!!!!! So I arrived almost right as they were handing out horses and I got Wyoming #95! I was so happy! I got to show groom Wyoming! She did so good and was absolutely spotless by the time I was done with her. I had a mustang rider helping me so we finished a little early. Then we tied them at the White Arena and checked in. I wore my interclub outfit. I was #208. We were also given a green participation ribbon. They wrote my name wrong so that was funny. I was called a different name the whole day. GRRR. So they let us look at the patterns and the order. It went Barrels, Flags, Poles. AAA went first then AA and finally A. Before I knew it the announcer called all AA barrel racers to the white. I was given Rascal #81. So as I was pulling his reins through his halter he pulled back. HARD. His bridle snapped apart. Oh dear. So I got him tied up and gave his bridle to a wrangler. Then they gave me a horse named Snookie #__. She is a huge horse who looks like a mule almost. Super sweet. I had to put my stirrups on the shortest notch and jump to get on her. Then we lined up in numerical order. Then I was led into the volunteer. Snookie is really sensitive on her mouth. A posse member was holding her head and she didn't like that. I was given the all clear and off we went! Holy cow smooth gates! And fast! Her legs were so long we were at the barrel in a few strides. I plow reined (Two hands) the barrel course for better control. I started with the left and went around nicely. Then the second barrel. Snookie had a little freak at the barrel moment and my only thought was don't cross the white line!!! (Or we would have been disqualified) She calmed down fast and around we went. We were still at a lope and had barely broken gate. Around the third and I drove her home! Man that horse can move! Then I took her around and gave her a drink. My time was 35.18 seconds. Not bad for having never been near a barrel course in my life and I was not surprised that I didn't place. I really like Snookie she is awesome! I waited through flags. It actually looks really hard and I could see how it could be fun. I'm glad I chose the events I did though. Finally poles started. There were two teams going at once. One on the south side and one by the grandstands. Eventually AA was called. I went back and was given Bandit #1. He would not stand still!!!!! I was happy because he is fast and is good with lead changes. He is in Precisionettes. So we finally lined up. I was brought in and got to be on the grandstands side. I was told to go and kicked him up. He stalled as we approached the white line on the ground but I pushed him through it. Another smooth horse!!!! We came to the end and cued him around! Crap! Went a little wide but still got him through the pole. We found our stride and sailed through the rest! He switched his leads effortlessly! Came around the end as tight as possible so to not cross the line and ran back! We had a rhythm going now and we looked amazing! It felt amazing! Then I turned and galloped home. As we crossed the line I pulled him back but he wasn't slowing down very quickly. The posse members tried to steer him towards the south side but he panicked. Switcher leads twice and planted himself. I felt myself slide and the next thing I saw was dirt. I went down towards the rail and missed it by a few inches (Thank God!) I popped right up! Softest landing ever! I went down on my right side. It literally was like a trampoline. As fast as I went down I came up. I got a hold of Bandit and got back on and rode him out waving to the crowd :) I was the only Halt Ho of the entire show. Ooops :) I am really good at gracefully falling. I tied Bandit up and gave him a hug. It wasn't his fault at all. He is such a good horse. Then back to wait for the results. I GOT 4TH PLACE IN AA POLE BENDING!!!!! OMG!!!! I was so excited when they called my name! I went to the table and claimed my white 4th place ribbon. My time was 27.95. I was less than a second away from 3rd place! Goes to show every second counts in rodeo. I was so happy. Then I went and claimed a horse to unsaddle. I grabbed Maddie #13 and rode her up once Single A finished. She was an easy groom but she just wanted to eat the grain and hay on the ground. Then I finally got to go home! What a crazy weekend!!!

2014/2015 Tenderfeet First Ride!!

Wow today was quite the day. It was super foggy in the morning. It looked cool. I got to help a girl who missed the class last night. She had Bingo. I got her caught up and sent off. Then I helped EVERY class all day. I was there and helped with the demos on how to approach the horse at the rail. It was actually fun helping all the kids get comfortable with the horses. So many were so little! I got really good at shorties by the end of the day. I has to throw them in the saddle almost. Then we helped the last class unsaddle and I helped the girl with Dakota. He was awful. He just wanted to go home to his good. I felt bad because she couldn't do much because he was freaking out so muh. He stepped on my toes and it really hurt. He dragged me to the pasture and took off as soon as his halter was untied. Then I helped clean up and did tack checks. Overall a really fun day!!!!!

Tenderfoot Grooming Night Fail

So tonight I went out to teach the new kids how to groom and saddle! I was so excited because this was why I became a wrangler. Well they made us line up adults, red division, AAA, AA. So only 3 people did not get a kid to teach and one of them was me :( I was so bummed. I was next in line when they ran out. So we got on Clorox duty. Yippee. It was super boring. The only fun part was chasing a AAA boy around with Clorox because he was insulting our team (in a nice teasing way) it was awful watching everyone else getting to teach. I did get to help a girl take Utah girl home because she had to stay so we could take care of her wound. Then we had confusion on where she went so it took a while. That was basically my night. Then my best friend on tenderfoot got top tenderfoot!!!! I am so proud of her! I guess I'm a good mentor hahah. Way to go!!!!! I'm back all day tomorrow to help. All my classes are cancelled so it will hopefully be a better day than tonight. Still super bummed.
