Junior Instructor Class

The sign ups for Junior Instructor Class just opened. I really wanted to be a JI but you have to be graduated from your Junior year. So it looks like I will have to wait until next spring. At least I can help the new Tenderfeet this September with grooming. So that should be fun. I get to ride this weekend! Some of us I think have costume fitting. For those of us who needed new vests made at least. Write in 3 days!

Jr. Wrangler Class # 3

So today was our Medical Lecture. It was about 1 hour long. Maybe a little longer. Then we paired up and got assigned our horse to groom. Today we all got Sorrels since we were doing horse ID on them. My friends and I got Emma #16 She was my test groom for Tenderfoot year. She is so beautiful and a Red Division horse. She was great for grooming. Then we all lined up in a circle and they paraded the horses around and we took notes. They taught us tips for how to identify them and help Tenderfeet find them as well. We did Smooch even though she was a bay. It was a mistake. At the end my partner(s) took Emma home and Honey got left behind. No one was taking her so I took her home. I love Honey. She is just a little spazy and bouncy. Highlighted Horses are ones I have groomed or ridden. We did Horse ID for

Blue Ropes 2 - 22 - 14

So yesterday was Blue Ropes. Danielle wasn't there but we did have class. Mostly it was individual practice and we did our flat loop routine twice. I finally have In - Out - Through and I learned butterfly! One of my friends taught it too me. It is really fun. I was there from 7 am - 3 pm with my friend and her horses. She let me ride them in the Silver Spur arena where the owners ride. He was great! I may even get to use him for Interclub. I watched the Nighthorse Ranger ride. I want to move there so bad next year. It is possible. 2 girls last year skipped Triple A and went to Nighthorse. I also watched Blue Horse Romans, Liberty, Trick, and Vaulting. Amazing how much fun you can have at Westernaires when you don't even ride in a class for yourself. I love watching all the teams. It was a great day! While I was there I took some pictures of my 1st Tenderfoot Ride - Bantaro while he was in Stepps class.

He is so Cute!

Excited for Blue Ropes!!!!

I am really excited for ropes this weekend! It's in the afternoon again though :(  But it could be my last practice on Blue Ropes because specialty move ups are next month, and this is our last February practice. Ahh!!! I want to move up to White so bad! I can do 100 toe dances and I have been on the larger ropes since my 3rd practice. I think I have a really good chance! I practice almost daily. I can not believe that my first White Division show is in 4 or so months and my last Interclub competition too! I can't wait to be the Junior Interclub rider so I can help guide the Tenderfeet through their first show :) I love helping people. Write in a few days!

I Finally Get To Ride!

Today was JGE (Junior Grand Entry) Tryouts were cancelled due to the extremely high winds. For Junior 1 I got Blue #110. That horse is loco enough as it is now add extreme winds to that. It as not a good mix. We played some games. We worked on Teardrops and Rollbacks! It would have been great if there was no wind. It was brutal. Blue did good on the teardrops. We trotted down the rail did I tight tiny circle and kicked him back to the lope on the rail. It was pretty fun except Blue kept taking off. Then was rollbacks. It is supposed to be done at a lope but we did it at a trot. You go down the rail pull back to put the weight in their haunches, turn and lope back. It was really cool but Blue went all over the map. I looked like a 1st year ahhh! It was still riding though. Then was White Star. I got Sonny # 38.  My instructor Aline calls him bug face. He does have a really weird shaped face. Also extremely stubborn! Good thing I have spurs but it only gets him to trot. His slow trot is really nice. We rode our drill!! First time I rode 3 - 4. One of my friends got to call. She did so good for her first try :) We trotted almost our whole drill. It was probably one of our best drills yet. We still struggle moving into the star. We loped our propeller too. Then we lined up to run it again and I was 4 - 3. Then Aline turned to me and asked me to ride 1 - 1! So I got to call while riding for the first time!!!! It was amazing! We also pulled off a really good drill but we got so mixed up that as 1 - 1 I ended up on the outside of the propeller!!! It was weird. I kicked Sonny to try and get him to lope but all it resulted in was a big ole' buck that nearly threw me off. There is a picture below. I was like OK we are settling for a fast trot. It was sooooo much fun getting to ride and call! I LOVE IT! My friends and I studied in the fort after our ride and watched the Gauchos do their walk throughs. Then was diagramming. I finally got 35/35 on my quiz!!! Yay! Quiz #7 was 2 pages! I will be interested to see how I did on that. We also got our study guide to fill out to get back half of the points we missed on our quizzes. Pretty good deal and we have a whole month to do it. Then I went to the auditorium and completed my 2 corrections then I sat outside and watched teams do walk throughs while filling out my study guide. Overall it was an amazing cold windy fantastic day :)

Jr. Wrangler Class!!!

Tonight was my 1st of 6 classes to be a Jr. Wrangler! It was pretty fun :) Kind of boring for the riders. So we started with a safety lecture, how to groom, lead, saddle, etc. Basically it was review for riders and a 1st grooming class for the Adult Wranglers in Training. Because J1 grooms every time we ride it was really easy for me. We got packets with information and info we need to learn. We split into groups and we had one Jr. Wrangler to 3 trainees or so. We got to groom Keno #15! Keno is so great :) My group was all J1 riders so we finished REALLY early. We walked around and practiced Horse Identification. I am good at identifying the horses I've ridden or groomed. I am probably going to buy a booklet of the horses next class. It was basically a really fun 3 hour grooming class. Write on Saturday!

Diagrams Forever!

Wow! I just finished my Diagrams. My whole total of 10 took me 3 hours! Not bad! Especially for Double A White Division. We get 2 weeks to do 10 where as Nighthorse (First Year Red Division) for example gets like 15 to 18 to do in 1 week. Our last set of diagrams wasn't too hard. Oblique to center is a pain though. Well now to study for our last quiz (7). We will start doing more walk throughs and Study Guides to prepare for our final. Here are all my Test scores so far.

Out of 35 Points
Quiz 1: 32.75
Quiz 2: 34
Quiz 3: 34
Quiz 4: 34
Quiz 5: 32
Quiz 6: ?
Quiz 7: ?

Pretty Good. So far I have also got full points on all my diagrams. I wish I had more to tell you guys but not a lot happened today. It's hard to find stuff to blog on when I don't ride. Oh well... Sorry

Diagramming 2 - 1 - 14

We Finished Our Drill!!!!! We did sloppy copies for 10 total diagrams. We also took Quiz #6. On Quiz 5 I scored 32/35. Not too terrible :) Still passing. That was basically all there was today. We finished early so we worked on final copies. My other 2 Instructors got snowed in so we did not get our corrections back from last week. I had to stay for another hour so I went to the Auditorium with Danielle and some of my team mates and worked on my diagrams. I got 4 done in 1 hour. It was so weird not riding. Overall a very short, cold, but fun day.

Rides Cancelled, But Not Classroom

Well all rides are cancelled due to the bad weather and road conditions. Mr.Keller doesn't want to risk any horse trailers on the roads. I really hate the snow, but we are still having diagramming class and costuming for other teams. So I still get to be there! I hope we are able to finish our drill if so we will have a lot of diagrams to do. I hope I did well on my last quiz and we are taking Quiz #6 today. It is going to be so cold! I will blog when I get back if I'm not frozen!
