White Star Summer Ride 6/24

Well tonight was interesting. So I got Cinder #34. She was an absolute sweetheart! She let me catch her no problem out in the pasture and stood perfectly still for grooming. Didn't fuss at all. First we went through Standard Drill. It was really easy. Standard Drill is held in September. Each level is given a drill to learn and compete to see who preforms it best. Single A gets the basic drill. Double A does the same but adds a propeller, and Triple A adds a propeller and Mariner's Cross. Danielle says we will use that as a warm up drill to start learning it. During the ride we mostly worked on basics. We didn't ride with flags :( We built pairs and loped. Then with 4's. Our team just wasn't having a good day. Poor little Cinder just wanted to go! Her trot is absolutely to die for. You can get her to trot slower than she walks. Her lope is great as well. She tries so hard to please you and you can feel it. We worked on cuing with our legs. Most of our ride was spent in the middle talking. They said we did amazing on Sunday and we are going to start picking up the speed on our drill :) So for a twist they had us drop our stirrups, keep a hold of the reins but only use them to keep them at a walk and close our eyes. It was a little scary but Cinder made me feel safe. I knew she wouldn't try anything so pretty soon it was effortless. We had to circle only using our body and legs with our eyes closed. I think cinder did well but I couldn't see. When they let us open our eyes I was still on the rail so that was good. Then we made a line and the ride was done. Not a terrible first ride as Captain but it could have been better. No one took Cinder so I got to unsaddle her. I was very happy. She rolled almost right away but took forever to cool off. When she finally was cool I gave her some carrots. She LOVED me after that. She followed me around like a puppy dog. It was cute. Then I took her home and that was that. There is no Westernaires this weekend due to a big Red Division trip and I have to miss the next White Star ride so it will be a pretty boring week.

Guess the Horse #6

So the answer to last week's riddle was Splatter #19
Splatter #19
This week's riddle is I am a buckskin colored paint who runs Red Team. I am a 12 year old, gelding quarter horse. I can be very hyper and I am easy to recognize in the pasture. My number is between 60 and 65. Who am I?

White Division Show Teams - OFFICERSHIPS

Wow today was seriously the best day ever!!!!!!!!! So White Star had too groom with the other AAA teams so we got there 2 hours before show time. I got JD #89. He was OK for grooming except when I was trying to brush his legs he pulled back on the rail.  So I had to just wrap the rope while I finished grooming. So I had to stay by him and watch him. We had to put our flag boots on the horses and leave them there all day. I was really nervous that I wouldn't get it back. Then we rode down and tied the horses at the trailers. My team then did a quick walk through and it went great. I was 3-1. So we headed to costume. White Star has to costume during White Grand Entry so we got going pretty quick. We also had to put Velcro on our hats too keep our hat bands on. So once we were costumed my team made a circle and we did our team chant that we created.

Who are we?!
White Star!!!!
Who are we?!
White Star!!!!
Are we ready to ride?!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!

It was pretty cool and I think it got us really pumped up for show time. So then we got our saddle covers and our horses. I was first in line and I got Turbo #86. We put our covers on, adjusted stirrups, and mounted up. We got our flags and went into line up. I could not believe I was holding a white star flag! AHHH!!! While we were at the gate Shadow Riders were riding. All of the sudden a huge storm blew in. We could barely hold on to our flags! That wind was really strong. So we handed off our flags and had to go hide behind the big trailers to stay out of the rain. Turbo was so cute. All the other horses were freaking out and he was taking a nap. LOL. Dundee was trying to eat the tire. So we stood there for like 10 minutes when the weather cleared up and we were set to go. So back up we went and got flags again. They opened the gate and I got to be the first pair in! The crowd cheered and our music played in my ears. Turbo became a whole new horse! SHOW TIME! We did amazing!!!!!!!! Turbo is great!!!!!! His lope literally feels like floating. We got to propeller and I let Turbo fly! My team and I turned that propeller like we were a AAA team. Loping all the way!!!!! It was amazing getting to be on the outside I can't even describe it on here. My vest kept popping open though. The Velcro is wearing out. I will safety pin it for White Olympics. So we headed down the center and out we went! It was over so quick but it was perfect! Guess what we ran 6 minutes and 21 seconds in an arena twice the size we were used to practicing in. That is so impressive! Our instructors were so proud of us and we were so giddy with excitement it was just.... WOW!!! So much fun!!!! Then they said we were having a team meeting so hurry up and get changed. So we all gather around the instructors. They said we were amazing today and we did so well. Then they said they were announcing officerships! WHAT!!!????? OMG it's happening! Due to how points worked out and the size of our team we only have 4 officers. They started out at the bottom and came to the top.

Master Sargent: Westies Girl
2nd Lieutenant: Westernaire Lover
1st Lieutenant: Interclub Winner
Captain: ME!

They said my name and I couldn't believe it!!!!! I GOT CAPTAIN!!!! OMG!!!!! Our instructors were also really nice and bought our officer bars for us. So they handed them too us. I was like... I am actually holding these captain bars in my hand. O. M. G. So then all my teammates like swarmed and hugged me. I nearly started crying because I was so stinking proud of how well we did today. We went up to the stands as a team. All us officers put our pins on with help of our teammates. I still can't believe it!!!!!! We watched the rest of the teams then headed down to unsaddle. I found JD and took my flag boot off. They told us just to pick any horse. I grabbed Stormy #48. I have always wanted to ride her. So we took them up. She is really bad about her feet but I had a wrangler come and help me. Then it was time to let her roll. She walked around forever but finally found a spot. When she was done rolling she just layed there in the dirt. It was really cute. I took her home and the day was done. BEST DAY EVER!!!! WAY TO GO WHITE STAR WE ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Captain Bar!!!!!

Waiting to go in

Star
Propeller

Turbo and I

Running out!

White Division Show - Specialties

WOW! I can not believe I actually just preformed in my first big show for Westernaires. It was incredible!!!!!!! So Ropes costumed during White Grand Entry. We were well represented in Serpentine, lots of owners. Then came the not so long wait. We were the 5th team in so before I knew it we were lined up headed in the gate. Even not on a horse there is something so incredible about running into that arena with the music playing and crowd cheering. I felt very small in the Rodeo Arena. LOL. So we preformed flat loop. Then I preformed butterfly. One trick down! I seriously had a smile the entire performance. Then came lay down. I am the only one on our team who uses the 20 ft but I find it easier. So I stood out just a little. But that was one of my dream tricks to preform at show and I did it! 2 down! Then I got to sit during drag. Then was Handshake. Everything was happening so fast! Hahaha. I pulled out a flawless Handshake. I was even able to look up at the crowd, smiling of course. 3 down! Then I started to run back to line when Drag Accordion was called... Reverse hahaha. So this trick and I have issues. I had it absolutely perfect today in practice. I got 2 ups and downs but that was it. Not bad but not as good as I wanted to preform it. 4 down! How are we on the last trick already??!!! :(  So then was Double Wedding Ring. I rocked it! Then we made our big line, Saluted one last time and ran out in pairs. It was amazing! I had so much fun. It is so different being inside the arena. I loved every second of it. Then we unconsumed, packed up our stuff and we were free to go. Even though that was my only specialty, I stuck around and watched a bunch of the other teams. I left after batons. Overall it was an amazing first day of show and I am so ready for base teams tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BAREBACK and Ropes

So today was Bareback for Juniors! I was so excited. I love bareback so much and I couldn't wait to get my horse when the head wrangler said, "Dakota #83." Oh great.... PERFECT! Stubborn, lazy, thickheaded, Dakota. Great. So he was super easy to groom but his feet are gigantic. Then he just has a hackamore so it was so easy. So then we had to take off our spurs. Oh perfect. It felt so weird not having my spurs on. He looks like he would have a really comfy back but it's not the best. Just a little bony. One of my instructors gave me a leg up. We rode them down to the arenas and started our ride. Mostly it was just working on bareback. Dakota is SO STUBBORN!!!!! He does not listen at all. Bingo and Dakota have a little bromance thing going on. Anytime I was near him they would just stop and try to eat the grass. It was so annoying. Yet it was still a good ride because during free time we really bonded. We got to the point where one kick and he was at a trot. High pitched noises really helped get him going. I was so close to getting him to lope too. So close! We had one fall. My friend and she hit the dirt pretty hard but she back on. My instructors said I had the right kind of patience for Dakota. My friends all said I did really well. Not the best bareback ride but it was still good. My team then had to clean the red and blue arenas. So we took care of that. Then I talked with my friend on Nighthorse and played with her assigned horse, Wildfire. Then ropes came around. We had to practice with Red Ropes for some reason. It wasn't terrible just less space. So we did Flat loop 3 times then tried out for Specialties for tonight. So the tricks that are being preformed tonight are
Flat Loop
Butterfly
Lay Down
Drag
Handshake
Drag Accordion
Double Wedding Ring
Not a lot but pretty good for White Show. We should have more tricks for White Olympics. I am preforming all of them tonight except Drag. Pretty Cool!!!!! I am really excited for tonight. My first big show! I just hope I don't drop my rope LOL. Especially since I am in front row for Flat Loop. It was a good practice. Write tonight after show!!!!!!!!!!!!

White Star Summer Ride 2

So tonight was amazing and awful at the same time. So this weekend I got really sick with a high fever. I was feeling better so I decided to ride. Especially since it was the last ride before show. If you miss the last ride before show you don't ride in show. So I got Larry # 20. One of my friends got Utah girl and we switched horses in the pasture on accident. So we had to switch them up in the arena. Grooming went pretty quick but my head was throbbing and I felt like I was going to pass out. It was also really hot in there. I splashed some cold water my face got a drink and felt a little better. Once I was up I felt better. So we mounted up at the arena and got flags I got a white one this time. White horse white flag pretty cool. So my instructors knew I was not feeling the greatest. They were being so nice and kept checking on me. I agreed to call the first drill. Definently not as loud as I normally was. Larry was the perfect horse for me to get tonight. He had a nice trot and a really great lope. He just doesn't listen to leg cues at all. Then for the second drill I was 3-1. A chance to redeem myself from last week. Any time we were slower than a trot my head would start throbbing. So I correctly came out this time and I got to lope outside propeller. It was so much fun. I also got to do it for the third drill and they told us to go even faster. Larry had a hard time keeping up but it was great his lope is so nice. We dismounted and a chaparral took Larry. I was kind of relieved the ride was over cause I felt pretty bad but I didn't want to stop riding. Two renters were drawn to ride serpentine. I was not picked. Then I asked if I would be calling show on Sunday. They said no but that I would get to call WHITE OLYMPICS!!!!!! I was so happy because that drill is done entirely at a lope and it is such a judged performance. Kinda stinks that I have to wait till August but it's worth it. Also means that I will most likely be loping up for the propeller for Sunday's show. Overall it was a pretty good ride but I am so ready for bed.

White Rope Tack Swap Show

So today was really fun. It was supposed to be bareback Saturday for the Tenderfeet but it was cancelled for some reason. So I helped out in the morning as wrangler. Then I watched the T-1 ride, Red Trick, White Horse Romans, and had breakfast. Then ropes had costuming. We got changed into our costumes and tried out for tricks. In order to do them for show we have to have them really solid. I can do all so Danielle is just having me do a few so that I don't exhaust myself. So for this show she had me performing Handshake, Drag Accordian, Lay Down, and Double Wedding Ring. I finally got to be in the front row. It was great getting to preform in costume for a small audiance. We were in the white arena. We has our music playing and everything. It was fun. I also called the salute for some maneuvers. Then we put our costumes away and used the leftover time to practice. I GOT DOUBLE SPOKE HOP!!!!!! I was so excited and Danielle saw it too. It won't be show ready by next weekend but I will have it for White Olympics. So excited for White Star on tuesday.

1st Summer Schedule Ride

So tonight was our first summer schedule ride for White Star. We now ride every Tuesday. So tonight was just not my night. 1st I forgot my rental money so I have to pay that back next ride. Then I got Honey #45. While I was grooming I noticed that she had thrown a shoe. So I had to put her back and I got Utah Girl #92. I was really happy with the switch. But I had to groom extra fast to catch up. I also got to help some White Knights saddle too. Then we rode down to ride. For our first two drills I was 1-1. I got to carry a red flag and call. For the second drill we actually came out of the arena and came in like a show. That was pretty cool. For the third drill I was 3-1. Outside of propeller. Well no. I screwed up so bad. I lead out of circle and ended up on the inside. Danielle kind of yelled at me. I was so embarrassed. We did shave 30 seconds off our time though. We are supposed to keep it between 4 and 7 minutes. Danielle says we usually always go over time in White Show because our drill was designed to be loped. So right now we can get to about 6 minutes and 30 seconds. Then no one from Chaparrals or Vaqueros took Utah Girl so I had to unsaddle her. She would not roll and took forever too cool down. I did get to give her some carrots and she really enjoyed that. I am going to study my drill like crazy for next week.

INTERCLUB 2014 !!!!!!

Today was Interclub!!!!! It was absolutely amazing. I got to ride Serpentine with the horse I was using. He is a tall mostly black thoroughbred. We looked amazing together. I wore a black hat with a red band. Then my shirt was red and black with black pants and a sparkly saddle pad. It looked perfect. Serpentine was fun. JGE preformed and then we went in. My horse almost popped me off at the beginning but I caught myself. After serpentine came the LONG wait. I was in the last class again. Class 15. 2 less classes than last year. So after about class 5 the weather got really bad and we had to pack up EVERYTHING!!!! We moved indoors to the Volunteer Arena. I was kind of bummed because I like riding in the Rodeo but my horse is better indoors and the Volunteer is fun to ride in. So after we got re situated, Nighthorse Rangers preformed. It was great! I so hope I can move there next year. So finally class 15 was called up and I went to the trailers to get my horse. We lined up and got ready. I was so nervous and excited I thought I was going to throw up. So then my class entered and the ride began. My horse did so good!!! He did get spooked on the rail because people would not move away even though the director asked them several times. But I was able to keep my seat and we looked awesome. Loped around, stayed spread out and we were flawless. Then we lined up for placing. They didn't give out ribbons this year. I was so sad. Oh well because I didn't win one. I did not place either year but the ride was so great, I won in my heart. I had several people that I didn't even know come up too me and tell me I did great and they were appalled that I didn't place. Then I stayed and watched the finals. Guess who won! The same girl as last year who is on my team!!!!! I was so proud of her! Winning the entire Interclub 2 years in a row is an amazing accomplishment. CONGRATS! Another one of my renter team mates place 5th overall. It was a very amazing day.

White Star Grooming #3 - Test

This post is weird. It published on Wednesday the 4th even though I wrote it tonight on Friday the 6th. Some computer glitch and now it is published on Sunday. AHHH. Anyway so tonight went really well. It was testing night and I got Cheyenne #80. It wasn't muddy!!!! I was so glad. When I went to get her from the pasture she sneezed all over my arm. It was kind of nasty. Then she took a drink. Then when I went to tie her to the rail she let it all dribble out of her mouth. She just held the water in her mouth. She is so silly. Cheyenne was really clean so grooming went really quickly. Her mane and tail were really thick though so that too forever. Her saddle was kind of heavy. I got all the horse parts, saddle parts, and bridle parts correct. Then for leg wraps. I used a bright orange leg wrap and it looked really good on Cheyenne. I got the front right correct. But the back left I put on backwards so I had to redo it but other wise I think I did really good. I finished really early. But it was a good class Cheyenne is so cute. She is so expressive with her eyes and face. She is my friends JGE horse. Can't wait for this weekend!!!!

Rides 6 - 7 - 14

Wow today was great!!!! For J1 I got Outlaw #68. We worked on Interclub and going from a stop to a lope. And going from a lope to a stop. It was fun because Outlaw is fast! It was amazing. And he did so good. Then for White Star I got Indigo #82. We rode with flags and I finally got a normal one. It was red. Much easier than the blue ranger flag. Indigo is bouncy. But his lope is really smooth. I got to call the drill!!!!!! I was so happy!!!!!!! Also an old white star instructor came to help us and have me some really good tips. For the second drill I was 1-5. Outside of star!!!! We did really well for both drills. We are actually pulling it together. The walk through was interesting and fun. They are starting to pick spots for show so they were experimenting today. I called 4 walk throughs!!!!!! I could be caller for show. I sure hope so. We had to skip one of the drills while calling only HO. It was really fun. The director also drive through one of our walk throughs. Ahh. Now for the scary part. I was calling the drill and we were about to thread the needle and a teammate went into a seizure. It was really scary but she pulled out of it. We were all glad she was ok. So we got let out of walk through 20 minutes early. Then I went to practice on the horse I am using for Interclub. I am so excited for tomorrow. I may be riding in serpentine but I don't know. What a day!

1 YEAR!!!!

Wow. I find it hard to believe that 1 year ago today I was just coming home from my very first Interclub and started this blog of memories. This blog has been running for a whole year. Just though that was pretty cool.
